Lewis Wheelhouse, Writer and Actor on ‘The Magic Box’ says;
“Remastering The Magic Box has been an absolute joy to work on! It’s got a fresh new feel to it, completely new soundtrack (Including the lyrical songs that make The Magic Box what it is!). Just the whole short film feels fresh and completely new again and I’m really pleased to be apart of it once again. I’ve been wanting to remaster ‘The Magic Box’ for a while now because I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from it and still do to this day and I just think that with a bit of fine retouching, it can be modernised and brought back to life with an exiting new and fresh feel to it. The whole storyline for ‘The Magic Box’ is very light hearted, and has a real family comedy entertainment feel to it, that’s why I really like it! It’s just something that’s short and sweet, that can be watched by any audiences at any ages.”
The Magic Box was first released on the 20th May 2014 and won Leeds City Colleges ‘Spotlight Awards’ in 2014 before going onto winning the Schools and Colleges KS4 & KS5’s category in Leeds Young Film Festivals ‘Golden Owl Awards’ back in 2015. Gage Oxley who works as part of ‘Leeds Young Film Festival’ says;
"We first saw The Magic Box where it won at the Leeds Young Filmmakers Golden Owl Awards in 2015, and since then we've seen Lewis grow as a filmmaker. Using his newly acquired skills from continuing to create, and attending Mediafish, and the BFI Film Academy, it's great to see Lewis revisiting his past work to see where he has improved as a filmmaker."
The Remastered version of ‘The Magic Box’ will be available to watch on the Lost Planet Studios YouTube Channel as well as bonus content on the Lost Planet Extra channel on 20th May 2018.
