The Detective to go on Hiatus at the end of Series 3!

Updated: Apr 26, 2019

Lost Planet Studios has decided that ‘The Detective’ will go on hiatus by the end of it’s Third Series.

The decision was decided well in advance by the Producers of the show. Producer and creator of Lost Planet Studios ‘Lewis Wheelhouse’ said that the decision was decided on back in early 2016 that after a long 7 years, The Detective will take a break before considering the shows future. Lewis commented “We started The Detective as a bit of fun whilst on a family holiday, I was 13 at the time and made a short film we later called ‘The Detective’ abroad with ‘Esme Adcock’, a family friend and somebody else we met on holiday, I never anticipated that it’d be 3 series in and running strong 7 years later!”.

When asked about why the decision for ‘The Detective’ to go on hiatus was made, Lewis commented “It’s been a long 7 years for me acting as Detective James and working alongside most of the cast who are believe it or not my family members and close friends. I just feel that now is the right time to give the show a well earned break as I feel as if I was to carry on, I wouldn’t be producing the show at its best. Also putting ‘The Detective’ to one side for a while would also mean it wouldn’t be a main priority for me and I can move onto working onto new projects for both Lost Planet Studios and for other companies as both an aspiring film maker and a professional actor. I could very easily say yes to doing a fourth series straight away, like we’ve done so with each and every series so far, but I feel as if now is the right time to move onto other things and give Detective James a bit of a break and a chance for him behind the storyline to build himself back up as a person after all of the Trauma that has happened throughout the last 3 series”.

Lost Planet Studios urges fans of ‘The Detective’ not to panic, at this moment in time the show has not been cancelled in any shape or form, it is just going on Hiatus to give the show as well as the people who work on it a break and whatever way the show does come back in, it can do so with a fresh new look as times move on from the recent events in the Third Series of ‘The Detective’. At this stage it has not been confirmed how long ‘The Detective’ will be on Hiatus for, nor wether the show will return for a fourth series or not however ‘Lewis Wheelhouse’ has promised “Whatever we decide to do with ‘The Detective’ in the future, we will not leave the show in the dark, we may or may not return for a potential series in the future depending on the circumstances, but whatever happens the storyline will not be abandoned until it has a suitable ending agreed on by those who produce it including myself”.

Filming has officially begun on the series finale for the storyline in Series 3 and ’The Detective’ will return later this year for the series finale, now confirmed to be called ‘The Hunt For Dark Angel’, as written by Lewis Wheelhouse.
