The Detective to end after Series 3

The Online Drama Series “The Detective” is coming to an end. The series will continue it’s run of episodes from Series 3 later on this year, and will finally be ending in 2020, bowing out after a successful 10 year run on Lost Planet Studios.

On the 10th July 2017, it was first announced that the Series would go on hiatus after it’s third season. But after 2 long years of the production taking an unexpected hiatus from 2017 due to a number of rewrites, It has been decided by the producers of the show to call the series a day and let it rest after it's 10 year run on the channel. The decision has been made for various reasons, But mainly because putting The Detective to one side will allow Lost Planet Studios the chance to finally work on some new and very exiting original content for the corporation in the near future.

Producer of “The Detective” and creator of Lost Planet Studios “Lewis Wheelhouse” says; “The decision to end The Detective has not been taken likely, as the show holds a very special place in my heart! As the show that I originally created back in 2010, when we first worked on the pilot in a family hotel resort haha! Ever since the start, the show has practically been like my baby! and it’s been a very difficult decision to make to let this beautiful show go.”

He also added; “2020 marks the shows 10th year anniversary, and what a better way of celebrating that by ending it on a high!! That I can promise, As I’m not gonna let this show go until it has had the ending that it truly deserves!!.”

Pre-Production first began on the final 2 episodes back in 2016, but due to various reasons and complications, it has gone through a number of drafts and the scripts for this final story are still been worked on, even at the moment.

Commenting on this, Lewis had to say; “This story for The Detective has been through quite a few drafts over the years, as to be honest my perception since the first script has changed! And the tone that I’m wanting to go for now has been way more realistic than the first draft, that had a bit more of a comedy tone to it .... And I just didn’t see that working for this story to work successfully. I’d say that the aura of this one is a lot better, as we dive into Detective James mental health. Something in which to be honest I’ve wanted to do properly for a long time now. We’ve explored certain aspects to his mental state before, having him being prescribed on tablets in previous series, and that leading to further complications with his state down the line.

But with this story, we certainly do take that one step further by showing the audience a side to Detective James’ mental health that we’ve never seen before as we tackle this particular subject on mental health head on! A subject that is very relevant in todays generation, but unfortunately is very little talked about!! So I’m very proud to be telling this story while at the same time spreading out a message for mental health awareness! And for that reason, I am very proud of this final storyline …. And I really do want to take my time with writing these scripts, to make sure that they are being done properly, and give the show the justice that it deserves!!.”

The Detective will return later on this year with “The Hunt for Dark Angel”, that is Part 1 to this final story. And then Part 2 in which is titled “The End of The Line”, concludes this epic 2 part story in 2020!!
